Publisher Problems...Still

This series is cursed. I swear it. 

First publisher, published the first two books with NO editing. They promised to edit it. But did not. I was so new to the game, I had no idea what was happening until it was too late. They published SOUL BORN and BLOOD DIVIDED, and...well...they had really good sales. Okay reviews. But I made a good deal of money from the royalties for about two years, then the Publisher stopped paying me! There is four books in the series, but the other were never published.

Contract broken. I started over.

Edited again. Hired editors...etc. Edited again and again. 

Couple years later, surprise! I found a new publisher for the series. Local-ish even. So I signed the series away again.

Book one was published. Had some small...very small royalties from it. Book two was published...and I stopped seeing royalties. As in NONE. Zero. I even bought copies of my own book online in stories, places that would have generated royalties...Nothing! I gave this publisher a second and third chance. Even sent book three to them to edit. YES, this publisher edited. Yay for that. At least. 

But this publisher had totally stopped paying me. Stopped replying to my emails...blah...blah...blah...

*sigh*

Contract broken.

I had to call and talk to Amazon. They took the Kindle books down. And the one paperback too. But for some reason Blood Divided remains on Amazon in paperback format. (don't buy it!) 

I alerted all the official writing groups of the issue. Reported the publisher ten times over. Apparently this publisher has done the same thing to many people. Such a crime!

So where do I stand now? I may submit this series to one of those places that simply makes it into an ebook and lists it. No frills. Just to get it back out there. And finally....finally...get book three and four published after all these years.

BLOOD DIVIDED cover reveal and release date!

 Hi all!

Here it is, the cover of BLOOD DIVIDED. I love the art, but the graphic design is a little funny....as in not matched with book one. No idea why the publisher or graphic designer did this. Hmm....

I just signed a three book contract today that will see the release of the rest of the series. That means the entire Soul Born Saga will be available to read in print and ebook versions.

This is amazing. I have written all the books, but the last two have never been released or seen by anyone. Not even beta readers.

I will be fixing them up, and getting them ready for release soon. It is going to be so much fun getting these books out into the hands of new and old fans of the series.

SOUL BORN New Edition Cover Reveal

Hi all,

Here it is! The new cover for the new edition of SOUL BORN, published by Azure Spider Publications.

I am very excited to show this off and will be reworking this blog and my author site to promote it. I need to change the color schemes on this blog to match it, lol.

The cover shows the main character, OPAL, performing some powerful magic. The artist did a great job capturing her. I am very happy with his work.

The book will be released 11/15/18. But you can already pre-order the Kindle version on Amazon.

SOUL BORN is BACK! (soon) (but, yeah, it's back!)

Hi all!

Happy to announce that SOUL BORN received a publishing contract this week. So SOUL BORN will be back this year! Probably Oct./Nov.

This is great news. I did not like it sitting, unpublished. Too many hours of work went into it.

So now, the new publisher will be editing it and creating new cover art for it. Sad to see the Dan Dos Santos art not being used, but that is fine. The book needs to evolve and therefore needs a new cover.

I will keep you all posted. NOW...I need to send in BLOOD DIVIDED!

SOUL BORN Saga returns to Kevin James Breaux

It's official. The rights to the SOUL BORN Saga have returned to the author, me! :)


That means SOUL BORN, BLOOD DIVIDED and the yet published, FLESH ENDED, will be re-edited and re-published soon.


In fact, Soul Born is being re-edited now. That book has had a long journey. I'm going to post the whole story on my author blog soon. :)  But the version of the book that was published in 2010 was written in 2007-2008. And it was hardly touched (not really edited much at all) by the publisher before it went to print. Why? Who knows. It drove me nuts. Not to mention, in 2013, I learned a great deal about myself and my writing by editing three books... three times. I had a lot of help from several agents and my editor. So I grew 1000%.


Does that mean a whole new Soul Born re-write? No. I don't want to change history or the story. Soul Born is Soul Born. A re-write now would turn it into a new book entirely. Basically, because I have a new focus, a new approach, and have learned so much. So the re-edit will address the POV issues, which were bad, I admit, and some of the other issues that plagued it.


A new "Reborn" version will be released. One that is a much cleaner read. I promise.


BLOOD DIVIDED will follow. Same deal. I will re-edit all the problems out. But the story will remain the same. Maybe some small additions here and there. :) Like a flashback that was before offered as an e-book only.


Expect to see SOUL BORN - The Reborn Edition out by the end of 2014. I will keep you all posted. And...good news...it will have the same cover painting by Dan Dos Santos, just some updated graphic design by me. :)

BIG NEWS.


The rights to the Soul Born Saga are returning to me in 3/2014. 


That's great news!


I'm already at work re-editing SOUL BORN. It needed it! I think everyone who has read it will be impressed with the new version when it's released later this year. I'm cleaning and polishing it up real good. :)


I will do a re-edit on BLOOD DIVIDED afterwards.


And then... yes... finally... then FLESH ENDED will get another edit pass (doesn't really need it) and it will be released. I expect that to happen in 2015.


Sorry about the delay. Sorry about the silence. Those of you following me on FB probably already knew this. I was letting hints slip for the last few weeks.


And thanks for all the emails lately. Lots of questions. Lots of compliments. You know me, I'm replying to them all.
